Service Description

Discover how to support students/clients by understanding how breathing impacts behaviour and cognitive function This workshop is an introduction to the psychophysiological nature of breathing to support student/client success. Ideal for a wide range of educators and school clinicians including resource teachers, guidance counsellors, social workers, occupational therapists. This is also suitable for counsellors and psychotherapists outside of school system who support children, teens and adults with behaviour and cognitive challenges. Key Takeaways: ~ Recognize common symptoms of hypocapnia (low C02) in students/clients ~ Learn how chemistry, mechanics, and psychology interface to create dysfunctional breathing habits ~ Dispel common misunderstandings and redefine 'good breathing' ~ Why one size fits all practices don't work (and may make things worse) ~ Ways to support student/client's budding awareness ~ Embodied understanding from a blend of theory, case studies and experiential practices. About your facilitator: Joy Onyschak is a Certified Breathing Behaviour Analyst, trained by Dr. Peter Litchfield, PhD (Behavioral Psychologist) @ The Professional School of Behavioral Sciences (USA). She weaves the art and science of breathing behaviour analysis and retraining into her somatic practice to support her clients' nervous system recovery from trauma and chronic stress. In addition to her 1:1 practice, she co-hosts trainings for professionals interested in understanding the real science of breathing. Space is limited to 12 participants. Participants who register by April 24th receive a 50% off private breathing behaviour analysis for yourself or someone you care for (Value $90)
