"Menopause is a massive rearrangement of a woman's endocrine system and a time when shape shifting happens on a mental, physical and emotional level."
~Dr. Claudia Welch, Author 'Balance your hormones, Balance Your Life' and founder of 'The Menopause Chronicles'.

If you're like me, you're listening to podcasts while doing the dishes, following experts on social media, read at least one book, and sought good medical advice to navigate this big shift in your physiology.
Even with a good practitioner (or two), it can feel lonely putting the pieces of our unique hormonal puzzles together. We're not meant to do this alone.
"The medicine is in the gathering." It's in moving wisely, breathing well, and sharing authentically. We learn from each other's stories and shared experiences. Join me and 11 other women this Fall for a unique learning opportunity. ~ Joy

Meet Your Facilitator

Joy Onyschak
Winnipeg, MB
Joy has a passion for helping people recovering from chronic stress and trauma befriend their bodies and restore self-trust. She has 15 years experience leading groups and individuals back home to themselves.
In addition to her full time 1:1 practice, she co-hosts intimate retreats and events that are meaningful, nourishing, and create connection.
She is a 'Nervous System Certified' Practitioner, Certified Breathing Behaviour Analyst, Somatic Practitioner, Circle Way Host, Somatic Groundwork TM Teacher, and Conscious Connected Breathwork Facilitator.
Known for being authentic and welcoming, Joy co-creates safe and brave learning environments where collective wisdom arises out of the shared learning experience.
Having gone through menopause at the age of 47 during the stress of COVID-19 lockdowns, she experienced a 'soup of hormonal confusion' in her own body, uncertain what symptoms were caused by a fried nervous system or from decreasing hormones (spoiler alert: it was both). Still wondering where her waistline went, she thinks its high time we gathered to move, breathe and connect around this topic.

About the Modalities

What is Somatic Movement?
'Soma' is a Greek word that means 'to perceive the body from within'. Somatic movement is a practice of moving from inner felt sense and becoming aware of what you sense as you move. Simple and efficient, some benefits include;
-
Improved interoception (inner felt sense) vital to our wellness and ability to take care of needs.
-
Improved suppleness and adaptability,
-
Increased 'gut' and emotional sense,
-
More calm, improved ability to be present, and focus.
-
Expect approx. 30 min of movement
What is Functional Breathing?
-
Functional Breathing is optimizing your respiration to get the internal resources you need in any given moment, without effort.
-
Many women unconsciously control their breathing as a result of trauma, hormonal influences, or to 'manage the moment' during acute stress.
-
Over breathing can create mild or severe deficits in oxygen perfusion that may cause or contribute hundreds of symptoms mentally, physically and emotionally.
-
In this program we'll learn how to restore your Open Healthy Breath through good mechanics and aligned chemistry.
-
Additional add on: All participants receive 50% discount on a private Breathing Behavior Analysis with Joy before, during or after the course.
-
Expect approx. 20-30 min of breath practice
What is 'Structured Authentic Dialogue'?
-
Each class we'll be spending time in shared wisdom, listening and sharing our experiences with one another.
-
At times this will be done in small groups of 2-3 and also in larger group circle. Confidentiality is essential.
-
Expect 20 ish min in topics of 'balancing effort & surrender', 'unmet needs', 'transformation', as well as sharing our 'favorite things' (from magnesium cream to podcasts and practitioners).
