Who is this for? Who is a 'space holder'? 
This retreat is for those who are in roles of supporting other people, both professionally and in family or community-based situations.  This includes family care-givers, and professionals such as nurses, therapists, ministers, coaches and teachers, etc.

  • Learn the What, Why and When Not to of Holding Space 
  • Learn basic autonomic nervous system literacy (Polyvagal Theory) 
  • Identify your unique tendencies and realize how they serve and get in the way
  • Experience and practice elements of circle - a lot more than just passing the talking piece
  • Hold space for yourself and tune into your 'gut sense' with guided body-based practices
  • Create a plan to use these tools, both personally and professionally 
  • Develop authentic connections with others 
Located at Light of Prairies Retreat Center, near Lorette MB, 15 min South of Winnipeg.
Time is provided to explore the trails, pond and labyrinth.
 
Space Limited to 12 participants each day to facilitate intimate conversations.
Includes handouts, somatic movement session, homemade lunch, tea/coffee & snacks.

Meet your hosts & facilitators:

Joy & Emily met at an introduction to 'The Circle Way' in 2016 and later as founding students and mentors/faculty at the Centre for Holding Space (the work of Heather Plett).  They joyfully weave their work and passions with friendship and curiosity.

Emily Gillies

Emily is a Master Practitioner with the Centre for Holding Space, currently in her 4th year of co-facilitating online Holding Space programs to a diverse worldwide audience. Emily offers in-person workshops and retreats, and one-on-one coaching. Emily is also an artist, a musician, a lay-supply minister, and a reiki practitioner; all with a focus on mindfulness. Believing we all have our own best answers inside, Emily loves to create spaces where we can tune into and celebrate our unique inner wisdom.

Joy Onyschak

Joy is a Somatic Practitioner who helps people get out of their heads and into their bodies, so they can find self-kindness, presence and get back to feeling joy in their lives. As a trauma-informed facilitator, she weaves movement, breathwork, circle and nervous system literacy into unique courses & intimate retreats. She is Breathwork Facilitator, Somatic Movement Teacher, Certified Holding Space Practitioner and Circle Way host. Learn more about Joy
